2025 RUNdezvous Participants

Come join us for the 2026 CIRES RUNdezvous! This 5K walk/run is a great way to get outside and have fun with your coworkers.

Details

Date Thursday, May 14, the morning of Rendezvous
Start Time 8:30 a.m. – please arrive a few minutes early
Start Location Open space behind NOAA / DSRC building

The map below shows the exact start location.

Registration

Registration is open to the first 82 participants. You can register here: https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/e/ZRTL3BrjjG7qXcXwmoDXw4/web/

If you will be running competitively, please also see the Starting Waves section below.

Course

The course will be the same as in 2025. The first part of the course is uphill with a fairly steep grade. The second half is downhill along both single-track trails and dirt roads. We will have marshals to direct you. But if you're planning on going fast, it's not a bad idea to do a practice run to familiarize yourself with the course.

Starting Waves

OSMP has asked that we start in groups of no more than 16 people. To make timing easier, we will separate out at least the top two most competitive groups into women and men. Please email meg.tilton@colorado.edu with the following information:

  • Which category you fall into:
    • Competitive runner – please also include:
      • Your average per-mile time for a flat 5K
      • What gender you identify with
    • Leisurely runner or walk/jogger
    • Walker
  • What CIRES lab or group you are in, e.g., GML, PSL, NSIDC, CEEE, etc.

Waves will be assigned close to the event date.

Volunteers

About 15 volunteers are needed to help with the event. Volunteer roles include being a course marshal, a race timer, and a starting-line assistant. Email meg.tilton@colorado.edu if you are interested in volunteering. Thank you!

Logistics

Parking

Bus or carpool is recommended. There is no parking at NOAA except for DSRC-based employees.

There is parking to the south, east, and north of the NOAA campus. If you’re taking the bus, the SKIP and DASH both go right to the NOAA campus. Get off at Rayleigh and Broadway.

Allow yourself 15-20 minutes to get from the parking area or bus drop-off to the starting line. Once you are at the NOAA campus, walk west. Head up Compton Road, go past the Commerce Children’s Center, and keep heading west until you get to a dirt road with a metal gate. The race will start just west of the gate. NOAA Security will be informed of the event.

Bathrooms

Go to the bathroom before you depart, as there are no public restrooms as the race start.

What to Bring

  • Water bottle
  • Snacks
  • Course map
  • Watch/timer (our timing is not state-of-the-art)
