Purpose of Page
Your personnel list can be found at https://insidecires.colorado.edu/pmt/researchers.php. It allows you to make basic updates to people who are affiliated but not necessarily employed by CIRES. This includes grad students and post-docs.
You can do several things on this page:
- Add or remove a suggested affiliate. A suggested affiliate is a person InsideCIRES believes may be associated with CIRES but who doesn't yet have an InsideCIRES record.
- Enter a brand-new affiliate. If you don't see someone suggested but want to add them, you can do that here. CIRES IT will then review the submission.
- Modify an existing affiliate.
Updating these data helps us keep our payroll salaries correct. It also provides your team access to InsideCIRES, adds them to CIRES email lists, and gives them access to CIRES services. If you have any questions about what information to enter here, please contact becca.edwards@colorado.edu.
Adding or Removing Suggested Affiliates
Click the button next to a suggested affiliate's name to add or remove them. Removed affiliates can always be added back later. However, you should add them now if you think the person may want to log on to InsideCIRES for any reason, for example to apply for a graduate student travel award .

When you add a suggested affiliate, you will be asked to verify basic information like the person's affiliation dates and grad status. Once you submit the data, the affiliate is automatically assigned a CIRES ID and emailed InsideCIRES login credentials.
How InsideCIRES Identifies Suggested Affiliates
The page uses two sources to identify potential CIRES affiliates:
- CU employment data finds appointments you supervise where the appointment holder is not listed in InsideCIRES data. This data stream identifies both grad students and post-docs.
- UIS student data finds students you supervise who are missing from InsideCIRES data. UIS records identify grad students only.
Adding Brand-New Affiliates
You can enter affiliates by clicking on the Add New CIRES Affiliate button in the upper right of their screen.

You will then be prompted to enter the affiliate's name, email, start date, and other fields.
When you enter a new affiliate this way, InsideCIRES emails CIRES IT that they need to approve the affiliate. Once IT has done this, InsideCIRES will email you that your requested affiliate has been approved. It will also email InsideCIRES login information to the new affiliate.
Editing Existing Affiliates
You can edit existing affiliates by clicking the blue Edit button next to their name.

This will bring up a form where you can make edits.
Viewing Past Affiliates
Past affiliates are displayed in read-only format. You can view them by clicking on the Past tab at the top of the screen.
Note that this page may not display all your past graduate students and post-docs, because older information may not be available. If you would like to add students so InsideCIRES displays updated information, please send a help ticket to ciresithelp@colorado.edu. Include the following information for each affiliate:
- Name
- Current email (if known)
- Approximate dates they were at CIRES
- Affiliation type: grad student or post-doc
CIRES IT will get this information updated for you.
