Creating a Record for a PE Employee

Create a CiresID and InsideCIRES username for a Future Employee

Sometimes it is useful to create a Cires ID and employee record for an incoming employee who hasn't started yet. This will allow them to get an InsideCIRES account in advance. To do this:

  1. From the InsideCIRES home page, click on Open PMT.

2. Click on Add a Person

3. Enter the person's name and email. If they do not yet have an existing CU or NOAA email, use whatever email you have. InsideCIRES will automatically update the email later when an official work email becomes available. 

4. If you would like the incoming employee to get messages about logging on to InsideCIRES, make sure to  leave the “Email Person About InsideCIRES Account” checkbox checked: 

5. Select Pre-Employment as their appointment type. You will find this in the “General” category.

6. Enter their employee ID. This is required for the system to be able to match this record with the official data that will come through CU.

7. Enter as much other information as you know. For the start date, select today. For the end date, select a date after the person will start their official position. The pre-employment appointment will automatically terminate when an official position becomes available. 

8. Click on the blue “Submit Request for New Researcher” button at the bottom of the page. This will take you to the new record for the future employee. You should also get an email in a few minutes. This will be a cc of the email to the future employee about accessing their InsideCIRES account.
