Performance evaluations: Time for mid-year check-ins

January marks halfway point of the Annual Summary of Accomplishments performance cycle. For researchers and university staff, we recommend at least one coaching session per year. Planning, coaching, and evaluation are all important aspects of effective supervision. 

 

Reminders:

  • Performance plans are fluid documents, intended to be updated throughout the year.
  • The performance period for the Annual Summary of Accomplishments is July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.
  • Coaching should be regular and can be informal. Coaching guidance from CU Boulder HR can be found on the CU website. Resources include:

  • A template for a Stay Interview with questions to learn about what motivates employees and the challenges they face.
  • A SMART Goals worksheet to help define goals.
