Moving Equipment?

Please notify Jen

As a result of Audit recommendations and the recent discovery of equipment discrepancies, I’m trying to get the word out: Always notify me before moving tagged equipment, especially if it’s leaving campus, and definitely if it’s being deployed for fieldwork.

Why? Because equipment must be appropriately tracked and documented per CU and Federal regulations. Procedures are in place, not just to protect CIRES and CU, but to protect you!

Examples: Bailment agreements for equipment loans. Authorization from Property Accounting for trade-ins. Export Control clearance and Off-Campus agreements for equipment deploying for fieldwork. PAO notification for transfers and lab moves. PAO/OCG authorization for surplus. The documentation depends on the circumstances. Contact me, and I’ll sort you out!

Furthermore, I’ve agreed to record any off-site maintenance  of CU tagged equipment in the CIRES Asset Manager (ICAM for short). So if you’re getting your instrument repaired or calibrated, let me know!

No tag? Unsure? Ask anyway!

Please email a photo of the tag or description to ciresproperty@colorado.edu
