When starting a new proposal, this will be the first screen before the Proposal details form:

Blue Info button definitions:

• Proposal or Subaward Proposal where a non-CIRES dept leads the CU Portion: CIRES will send proposal documentation to another CU Boulder Department, which will submit this proposal to the sponsor on behalf of CIRES.
• NASA Step 1: Step 1 proposals refer to NASA two-step proposal submissions, where Step 1 is a minimum prerequisite for submission of a Step-2 proposal, where the AOR will work with the PI to submit the summary of the intended research project.
• White Paper: A pre-proposal where a description of research plans and estimated budget is submitted to determine sponsor interest and whether a formal proposal will be requested by the sponsor.
• General Pre-Proposal: Select this option for any other pre-proposal that may not fall under the categories of: LOI/NOI, Step 1, Phase 1, Phase 2, White Paper.
• NC CASC Phase 1 SOI: Phase 1 Statements of Interest (SOI) is the first phase of the NC CASC proposal process, where the lead Research PI  submits the statement directly to the sponsor in the CASC Proposal Solicitation Manager (PSM).
• NC CASC Phase 2: If a Phase 1 SOI is selected and invited by NCCASC to submit a full proposal, a Phase 2 full proposal will be submitted by the Research PI in the CASC PSM. While this is a pre-proposal, CIRES requires a review of the full proposal prior to submission.
• Proposal for CU or CIRES internal funding/support: Funding opportunities sponsored by the University of Colorado or CIRES. Examples include: CU RIO Seed grants, CU Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Impact Grant, CU team and faculty grants, CU Public and Community-Engaged Scholarship Grants, etc.

Other general information about new functionality:

• PI cannot change the proposal type after submitted to CIRES Proposals team, but the PA can change it at any time
• No rush notification/required due date for any Proposal Type other than “Proposal or Subaward Proposal where a non-CIRES dept leads the CU Portion”
• “Additional Info” and “InfoEdEntry” tabs will be hidden for these Proposal Types:
  • Proposal or Subaward Proposal where a non-CIRES dept leads the CU Portion
  • NASA Step 1
  • NC CASC Phase 1 SOI
  • NC CASC Phase 2
  • Proposal for CU or CIRES internal funding/support
• “Impact Statement” tab will be hidden for these Proposal Types:
  • NASA Step 1
  • White Paper
  • General Pre-Proposal
  • NC CASC Phase 1 SOI
• Status change to “(Z) Submitted to Funder” auto email will not send for these Proposal Types:
  • NASA Step 1
  • White Paper
  • General Pre-Proposal
  • NC CASC Phase 1 SOI
  • NC CASC Phase 2
• Documents tab the same for all Proposal Types, except the “Proposal” document type will read “Pre-Proposal” for any pre-proposal type
  • Pre-Proposal document will require approval
