There are three main types of websites we are able to offer through CIRES IT Web. They vary in functionality, time of development, and flexibility in design. New web presences and redesigns can be requested through this online form or sent to ciresithelp@colorado.edu where we will then get in touch about next steps.

Research Page

Housed on CIRES Main site, this option is the shortest turnaround in development time. It can leverage content on the website (profiles, news stories, events, spotlights etc.), appears in the main website search, and is underneath the branding of the main CIRES site and the SEO that comes with it. It has all of the paragraph functionality and content flexibility within the tools provided on the main site.

Examples:

Feature Page

Housed on CIRES Main site, this option is a more robust offering than the research page. Using the site infrastructure and branding, it allows an overlay ‘site within a site’ option for groups that are too big to be just a research page, but don't want or need a standalone site. It allows for an alternative logo, a menu structure, and multiple pages. All pages and content are searchable on the main site search, and content existing on the site can be used for referencing (profiles, news, events, spotlights etc). The full suite of tools are available to use on the pages.

Example:

ESOC is the only site that has taken advantage of this so far. Sites that choose to take this option that have had a standalone site previously, like ESOC, can get their URL redirected to this featured page.

Standalone Group Site

We offer customized Drupal sites or “group sites” as well. This is usually reserved for sites with more content, news stories, events, and sometimes more custom requests like dashboards. Many times these sites have logos, often times externally created, have a custom domain name, and are often housed under a larger center (CEEE, NSIDC, Earthlab etc). These sites are more independently designed to match the requesters vision/purpose with the requirement of a CIRES logo and University of Colorado Regents copyright.

We offer Google Analytics tracking with limited access to those dashboards. Many of the existing standalone sites were created years ago and we have been getting more requests for redesigns/refreshes.
